The Smiths Top All Three Vinyl Single Charts

Despite Morrissey's protestations...

The Smiths have topped all three vinyl single charts this week with their re-issue of 'The Queen Is Dead'.

The classic 1986 track was given a stand alone single release, available on both seven inch and 12 inch vinyl.

The seven inch edition contained ‘I Keep Mine Hidden’ on the flip – originally featured on the 1987 cassette release of ‘Girlfriend In A Coma’ – while the 12” added ‘Oscillate Wildly’, ‘Money Changes Everything’ and ‘The Draize Train’.

Morrissey slated HMV for the retailers decision to play 'one per customer' stickers on the release, stating: "Over thirty years since their death, and the Smiths are still thought too radical for the slow reader! It is evident, to me at least, that music audiences must only feel and think the very same thing at all times."

In spite of this, however, The Smiths have waltzed to the top of all three vinyl charts – claiming number one on the 7” singles, 12” singles and the overall vinyl singles charts.
