The makers of The Simpsons have confirmed that the episode starring Michael Jackson will be removed from circulation.
The iconic performer appeared in Stark Raving Mad, in which Homer is sent to an asylum after wearing a pink shirt to work.
There he meets a man claiming to be Michael Jackson, and takes him back to Springfield with him.
Initially aired in 1991 it has remained one of the series' most popular episodes, but it will be pulled from circulation following the release of the documentary Leaving Neverland.
The two-part project features testimony from two men who claim to have been sexually abused by Michael Jackson while children.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, executive producer James L. Brooks confirmed that the episode will now be pulled: "It feels clearly like the only choice to make…"
The film's subjects, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, have subsequently been interviewed by Oprah; the Michael Jackson estate has heavily criticised the film, and is currently suing makers HBO.
