The Replacements Seem To Have Split Up

Entertaining self-sabotage continues...

The Replacements have always been gleefully of self-sabotage.

So when the band's original line up reformed for a series of live shows, fans stood with breath bated. Remarkably, all seemed to hold up – at least for a while.

At the weekend, though, The Replacements' Paul Westerberg told the crowd at Primavera Porto that the festival show would be the band's last.

Stating that the rest of the band had remained in their hotel rather than soundcheck, the singer observed that they remained “lazy bastards to the end”.

During this year's Back By Unpopular Demand tour, The Replacements sold t-shirts with varying letters. Fans have now pieced together the message: “I have always loved you. Now I must whore my past.”

Sad, but somewhat inevitable, news.
