The National Prepare New Album

'High Violet' tracklisting unveiled

Ground breaking Brooklyn indie rockers The National have confirmed more details of their new album ‘High Violet’.

The National’s success is a testament to hard graft and stunning songwriting. With Matt Berninger’s challenging lyrics and deep baritone, the band have made some surprising in roads into the mainstream.

2007’s ‘Boxer’ album saw The National gain critical plaudits, with the Brooklyn group touring across the globe. A series of dates towards the end of 2008 saw the group come out in support of Barack Obama, printing up t-shirts with the Democrat candidates face on it.

Since then, however, the band’s trail has grown cold. Secluding themselves away in the studio, The National have been working with little outside assistance.

Crafting tracks in their home studio, the band then handed the material over to acclaimed producer Peter Katis. Now full details have emerged of The National’s long awaited new album ‘High Violet’.

Due for release on May 10th, the album will be released via renowned indie imprint 4AD Records. The album will be adorned with cover art created by Mark Fox, displaying his sculpture ‘The Binding Force’.

To coincide with the release of the new album The National have scheduled two sold out shows at the Royal Albert Hall. Taking place on May 5th and 6th respectively, tickets for the performances are long since sold out.

In addition to this, The National are set to perform at Latitude while also supporting Pavement on a handful of European shows.
