Mike Skinner has sent fans a new message revealing that The Music’s Rob Harvey is set to appear on The Streets upcoming album.
As David Bowie once sang “five years, that’s all we’ve got”. Or in the case of The Streets – five albums. The garage group who took underground music into the Top Ten will be wrapped up after they released their next album.
Mike Skinner’s poetic touch, his everyman stance and his crisp production skills have made The Streets one of the biggest groups in the UK. A recent show at T In The Park saw Skinner say ‘farewell’ to Balado amid emotional scenes.
However he always meant to finish the band after five albums. Album number four was released last year, with the reflective ‘Everything Is Borrowed’ showing the songwriter’s growing maturity.
Since then, Mike Skinner has released a number of tracks via Twitter. Setting himself the challenge of writing and recording three tracks in three days the producer met the challenge, giving fans a treat in the process.
Sessions for the group’s new album are ongoing, but in a new posting on The Street’s website Mike Skinner declared that The Music’s singer Rob Harvey will be appearing on the forthcoming album.
“Rocking out with Rob Harvey from The Music on some vocals for my album,” he wrote. “We’ve been mates for (a long) time but something clicked musically recently.”
Skinner recently admitted that the album will be called ‘Computers And Blues’ and will be released in February.
