Brighton indie popsters The Maccabees have begun writing sessions for their third album.
Returning last year with their new album, The Maccabees introduced an ambitious new orchestral element to their music. A breathtaking return, ‘Wall Of Arms’ won over critics and an army of new fans.
However the band have not stopped working since then. The Maccabees recently joined forces with Roots Manuva for a one off single, while singer Felix White has revealed that the group are already writing material for a third album.
Speaking to the NME, White revealed that The Maccabees are planning to perform a couple of new tracks at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals.
“Maybe there’ll be a new song in there too, as we’re just writing the record,” he claimed. “We’d hope so, that’s our goal. It’ll only be one or two maximum.”
The band are set to play on the Main Stage at this year’s event. “We kind of decided while we write our record, it was so good last time we can’t really better that,” the singer argued.
“We decided we maybe weren’t going to play at all. Then that offer came in, that is the only way we could possibly beat last year.”
“The Reading Main Stage is almost the promised land. You think of that as the unreachable goal and now we’re playing it. Wherever you are at the festival you can hear the band on the Main Stage. Even if you’re not watching them you’ve got an opinion on them. It’s surreal to know it’ll be us.”
Reading Festival takes place between August 27th – 29th.
