The Lemon Twigs have shared new single ‘My Golden Years’.
Out now, it finds the sibling songwriters entering the New Year with confidence. A shimmering slice of power pop, ‘My Golden Years’ nods to its influences – a piece of Todd Rundgren here; a dose of the Beach Boys there – while remaining true to their singular voice.
A glorious, deeply uplifting slice of gilded guitar pop, The Lemon Twigs say ‘My Golden Years’ is about “making every minute count and living up to your potential.”
The brothers continue, joking that “in that sense I think that people like Mark Ruffalo or people who hike might like the song. Or it could be good while you’re working out.”
Out now on Captured Tracks, the single follows last year’s excellent LP ‘Everything Harmony’.
‘My Golden Years’ is equipped with a playful video, with director Ambar Navarro commenting: “The ‘My Golden Years’ video is about looking back at the good old days, and the highs and lows of trying to make it as a band.”
“We wanted to incorporate situations like being broke and getting kicked out while being playful and humorous about it. When you’re trying to make it as an artist there’s this vulnerability of putting yourself out to constant rejection that can be tough, but the band finds their full peace and freedom in performing in an open field.”
Tune in now.
