The Kooks’ lilting Britpop has charmed the nation time and again, with the band being forced to add another date at Brixton Academy after tickets for the original show sold out in 30 minutes.
This has been a big year for The Kooks, as the band recorded in their hero Ray Davies’ studio and released the highly successful ‘Konk’ album. The group have arranged an extra date at London’s massive Brixton Academy venue to cope with demand for tickets, alongside three sold-out nights at the Roundhouse venue.
When all these gigs are taken into account that makes for an astonishing 14,000 tickets sold in London alone – a phenomenal achievement. The Kooks are no mean shakes outside of London either, of course, with all dates on their massive UK tour long since sold out.
This week also sees the release of ‘Sway’ the latest single from ‘Konk’. A lilting lament, it suits the chilly Autumnal mood perfectly – banks are falling down around our ears, why not sit in by the fire and listen to this gently sung piece of melody?
The Kooks have announced the following date:
December 11th – London, Brixton Academy
