The Kills Prepare New Album

"Three quarters" finished

Trans-Atlantic blues driven duo The Kills are almost finished working on their new album.

The Kills released ‘Midnight Boom’ in 2008, to warm acclaim from fans. A cult success, since that album the duo have reached new levels of fans – for reasons completely un-associated with The Kills.

Singer Alison Mosshart now fronts The Dead Weather, who themselves are close to completing their second album. Guitarist Jamie Hince, meanwhile, has become a tabloid figure due to his relationship with Kate Moss.

Re-uniting to work on new material at the tail end of last year, The Kills are now almost finished work on their second album. Speaking to BBC 6Music, Alison Mosshart claimed that fans would be able to hear the new material shortly.

“We’re kind of half finished, or three quarters of the way finished with the new record,” Mosshart told BBC 6 Music. “I’m going to go back after this tour and finish it”.

Continuing, Alison Mosshart claimed that The Kills were attempting to re-create their sound. “We always try to make a record that sounds totally different than the one before it or anything we’ve ever done, so that’s usually the hard part, finding that new thing to do between just two people.”

Meanwhile, the singer also spoke about her relationship with The Dead Weather. “It’s all about the group of people you’re with,” she explained. “It took me forever, a whole lifetime it felt like, to find Jamie where I felt like that felt right and I feel that same feeling with these guys.”

The Kills are due to release their new album later this year.
