The Killers are set to release their festive themed new single ‘The Cowboys’ Christmas Ball’ on December 1st.
The Killers love Christmas. Each year – no matter what – the Las Vegas group will descend on a recoring studio to lay down material for a festive single. Donating the proceeds to a charity of their choice, the one off releases always come as an Advent treat for fans.
This year, the band have decided to record something a little unusual. The Killers have taken inspiration from a classic poem originally published in 1890, giving ‘The Cowboys’ Christmas Ball’ a typically glamorous makeover. Out on December 1st, the festive hoedown will be accompanied by a potentially hilarious cowboy themed video.
Yet to reach the web, the video will find The Killers donning cowboy boots for a hoedown with a difference. ‘The Cowboys’ Christmas Ball’ reaches iTunes on December 1st, with each of the band’s festive singles set to be gathered on an EP for the first time.
Proceeds from ‘The Cowboys’ Christmas Ball’ are due to be donated to the AIDs charity (RED). Currently helping the global fight against AIDs, the charity have raised more than $180 million towards medical funds.
In 2010 the charity launched a campaign to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV by 2015. Attempting to create an AIDs free generation, (RED) are crafting an enormous quilt. All proceeds from the new Killers single will be donated to this fund, with fans able to receive their choice of Killers Christmas single for free upon pledging to the 2015 Quilt HERE.
