The Invisible Singer In Hospital

All dates postponed

The Invisible singer Dave Okumu is recovering in hospital following a life threatening electrocution.

After a weekend of rumours and speculation, a short note on The Invisible’s Facebook finally put us out of our misery: singer Dave Okumu has been taken to hospital following an electrocution incident in Nigeria.

The band had travelled out to Africa to participate in an ongoing project exploring the music of Juju. The message reads as follows:

“Dave has survived a life threatening electrocution whilst performing in Lagos, and is presently recovering in hospital. The band have cancelled all forthcoming engagements, and would like to thank everyone for their support and kind wishes.”

The news is – naturally – pretty devastating. The Invisible have crafted one of the year’s most fascinating albums, while Dave Okumu is also overseeing the much anticipated debut LP from Jessie Ware.

In addition to all this, he is also a genuinely nice bloke. A cliche, maybe, but still true.

Get well soon!
