Dreadfully unlucky indie-folk types The Holloways are due to return later this summer with their new single ‘Jukebox Sunshine’.
The Holloways are a product of London’s ever-fertile indie scene. Naming themselves after the area of the city they were living in, the band took up residence in the Nambucca pub in Camden.
Practising upstairs the group would spend their days sipping pints and discussing their musical vision. After seemingly thousands of gigs, a battle hardened Holloways would finally be signed by an indie label.
With a bag-full of fantastic pop songs, The Holloways took off on an extensive UK tour. Scoring Top 40 singles with tracks such as ‘Generator’ the band won a cult following, rejoicing in their happy-go-lucky indie-folk stylings.
Debut album ‘So, This Is Great Britain?’ was a savage blast at an increasingly moribund nation. Winning acclaim for their sterling songcraft the band looked set for stardom, until a run of bad luck intervened.
A legal battle with their American record label left them sidelined and unable to release new material. Stuck in their rehearsal room, the band were devastated after their beloved Nambucca burned to the ground – taking their equipment with it.
Joined by two new members The Holloways are ready to put all this behind them. Having finished recording their second album the group are due to release their comeback single ‘Jukebox Sunshine’ on September 21st.
Now signed to Madfish Records, the group are preparing for the release of their new album later this year. Titled ‘No Smoke, No Mirrors’ the record is another joyous blast of sunshine from a band who have every reason to be unhappy.
With a host of tour dates planned, fairly soon these almost forgotten stars will be unavoidable. A triumph of resilience over adversity, The Holloways are back.
