The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn is set to release solo album ‘Clear Heart Full Eyes’ on January 23rd.
Through his work with Lifter Puller and The Hold Steady, Craig Finn has established himself as a deeply literary songwriting voice. Continually working, the singer found that new material didn’t quite fit within a group structure.
With The Hold Steady needing time off after last year’s ‘Heaven In Whenever’ the frontman decided to focus on a solo album. Completed with Mike McCarthy, new album ‘Clear Heart Full Eyes’ finds Craig Finn stepping out under his own name.
Despite a career lasting more than a decade, this will be the first time Craig Finn has released solo material. Seeking the opportunity to shake things up, new track were apparently laid down earlier this year.
In a statement, Craig Finn confirmed that the new material was “quieter” than The Hold Steady and that he “wanted to gain some experience of making a record with new people”.
Continuing, the frontman said: “I had written a bunch of songs that were outside of the norm for The Hold Steady, a little quieter and perhaps more narrative. I wanted to gain some experience and insight into the process of making a record by working with new people.”
‘Clear Heart Full Eyes’ contains eleven tracks, with confirmed titles including ‘New Friend Jesus’ and ‘No Future’.
