The Halfway Kid has shared new single ‘Depressed With An Accent’.
The wordsmith went viral just over a year ago, his artistry breaking out online. Blessed with a profound way with words, The Halfway Kid has an incisive eye, and this comes through in potent fashion across recent debut album ‘If I Don’t Come Home (Go To My House And Burn All My Things)’.
Out now, the LP is followed by a headline show at London’s historic Bush Hall on April 3rd, but the creativity isn’t about to stop.
The Halfway Kid has just shared something new, opening his heart on record. Born in London before spending his teens shuttling between the metropolis and satellite town High Wycombe, he used music as a form of escapism.
The British-Sudanese artist dissects mental health, and the belief that busying yourself can get someone out of a funk. As he puts it: you’re still in a funk, you’re just a bit busier.
Witty, self-deprecating, but also lancing some profound feelings, ‘Depressed With An Accent’ continues his rise. The Halfway Kid comments…
“Sometimes when you’re not feeling too good, you think a change of environment might help, and sometimes it does. But sometimes, you’re still depressed, just this time you’re in Mexico. Wherever you go, you bring yourself with you.”
Tune in now.
