The Flaming Lips Collaboration Album

Starring Nick Cave, Plastic Ono Band...

The Flaming Lips are working on a new collaborative album featuring Nick Cave, Plastic Ono Band and more.

What the hell is going on with The Flaming Lips? The band are entering one of the most bizarre stages of their career to date, shattering their coffee table image with a number of mind blowing psych cuts.

Recording a song which lasts for 24 hours, The Flaming Lips have also experimented with Gummi on a series of releases each more outlandish than the last.

Now the band are planning a new studio album. Collecting together some recent collaborations, the album will also feature contributions from Bon Iver singer Justin Vernon and – hopefully – Ke$ha.

“All these things happen within a couple of days” Wayne Coyne told Rolling Stone. “You set up these (collaborations) in your mind and immediately get to work. Sometimes it just takes a matter of connecting.”

Continuing, the frontman revealed that Nick Cave has already recorded several tracks for the project. “I think we’ll get a good Nick Cave collection of songs with the Flaming Lips. We already have one really good one, so that seems like it’ll work out.”

Finishing, Wayne Coyne explained that he is a massive fan of Ke$ha – who apparently loves the band. “We knew that she was a fan. There are a lot of these sort of druggy outlets out there that people get connected through.”

There is no set release date for the new Flaming Lips album.
