Manchester post punk legends The Fall are to release a new limited edition single in time for ‘Record Store Day’.
The Fall might not seem like a particularly charitable, nostalgic bunch but they do have their moments. Returning with a new line up, a new label and a new album the band have decided to honour their local record shop.
‘Record Store Shop’ is an American invention which has conquered the world. Taking place on April 17th a host of big name acts have joined forces to release limited edition musical platters exclusively through independent stores.
The latest to confirm their involvement are The Fall. With their new album ‘Your Future Our Clutter’ due for release in May the Manchester legends have decided to release a new limited edition single.
‘Bury’ is due for release on April 17th, complete with new track ‘Cowboy Gregori’. Taken from their new album, ‘Bury’ is a typically idiosyncratic and unrelenting slice of post punk fury.
Joining The Fall on the ‘Record Store Day’ trail are fellow Domino alumni She & Him. ‘In The Sun’ is taken from their new album and comes backed with the exclusive Beach Boys cover ‘I Can Hear Music’ while the seven inch will come complete with a tote bag.
Meanwhile former Beta Band singer Steve Mason is due to release his new album ‘Boys Outside’ on vinyl exclusively through selected stores on April 17th. The album will be on heavyweight vinyl, with a special gatefold sleeve and download codes.
Finally, alt rocks heavyweights Pavement are to release their classic track ‘Cut Your Hair’ on seven inch in time for ‘Record Store Day’. To tempt fans the B-side is a version of ‘Grounded’ which is actually different from the version on ‘Wowee Zowee’.
Let the countdown to Record Store Day commence!
