The Drums Confirm Album Plans

New single on the horizon

Hotly tipped New York based surf-pop outfit The Drums are to release their debut album on June 7th.

Finally, the wait is almost over. Releasing their debut single almost a year ago, The Drums have been shrouded in hype ever since.

Forming in Florida, their sun-ripened take on the Factory records output won them an army of fans. Early EP ‘Summertime’ demonstrated that the band had a rapidly blossoming songwriting talent, with British label Moshi Moshi quick to snap them up.

Now the band have confirmed the final details for their debut album. Self-titled, the record is due to be released on June 7th.

In previous interviews The Drums had claimed that they wanted to leave off debut single ‘Let’s Go Surfing’. A favourite with fans, the track appeared alone and on the ‘Summertime’ EP before album sessions began.

Releasing new information about the album, The Drums appear to have had a change of heart. The track will appear alongside other glistening material, on what is sure to be one of the summer’s defining albums.

The band are set to head to the UK to promote the album, stopping by Jonathan Ross next Friday (April 23rd). Arranging some headline shows, those long sold out dates will be followed by a support slot with Florence And The Machine.

In addition to this, The Drums have confirmed details of their new single ‘Forever And Ever Amen’. Taken from the forthcoming album the track will be released on May 31st just as th Florence And The Machine tour comes to an end.

The Drums are to release their self-titled debut album on June 7th.
