The Dodos are set to release their new album 'Carrier' through Polyvinyl this summer.
Losing a friend can be traumatic, life changing. For The Dodos, the death of guitarist Chris Reimer led to a period of profound self-doubt and introspection.
Approaching their new album, Meric Long opted to completely overhaul the way the band made music. "Chris was a huge influence on the way I think about guitar, songwriting, and music in general" reveals Long. "Seeing how he could transform and shape sound with an electric guitar inspired me to explore more tones and use those tones to begin writing a song."
The results are set to be gathered on new album 'Carrier'. Due to be released by Polyvinyl on August 27th, with lead single 'Confidence' available from May 21st. Opening with sparse, jerky guitar riffing, 'Confidence' builds into an epic of sorts.
Buoyed by propulsive percussion and Meric Long's personal, introspective lyrics this is a powerful return from The Dodos.
Listen to it now.
