The Dears: News & Tributes

Doom Pop Hits The Capital..

The Dears have announced they will play a show at London’s Porchester Hall on the 16th of October.

The Orchestral Canadians have been quiet of late, chiefly due to their recording of new album ‘Missiles’, which reportedly saw all of the band walk out leaving just core members Murray Lightburn and Natalia Yanchak. The album is however being released on the 20th October, with ”creative tensions” being cited as the reason for the disbandment.

Lightburn is famed for his sombre lyrical quips, a doomed outlook which often sees the frontman compared to one Steven Morrissey.
The band, who played a large part in cementing Canada into the indie empire it is today (especially their hometown Montreal), will continue with session musicians making up the rest of the line-up, it’s thought (the bands ex-member list now climbing to twelve).
