To deal with "another serious personal situation..."

The Cure bass player Simon Gallup pulled out of their Austin City Limits performance over the weekend.

The band returned to Texas for the festival, booked to play two performances spread across two consecutive weekend.

Bass player Simon Gallup, though, was forced to deal with "another serious personal situation" and couldn't make the show.

"Another serious personal situation affecting our bassist Simon arose yesterday, and as a consequence he had to return to the UK," the band wrote in a statement.

A family connection helped them triumph in the slot, however - Simon Gallup was replaced by his son, Eden.
