Goth legends The Cure have begun streaming two unreleased tracks on their official website.
Released in 1989, ‘Disintegration’ has a good case to be considered The Cure’s finest hour. Perfectly matching the group’s pop / experimental phases, the album spawned several hit singles.
A huge global success, to many fans ‘Disintegration’ was an entry point into a lifetime love affair with The Cure. Returning last year, the goth legends are now planning to issue an expanded version of the album.
Collecting the original material alongside early demos and instrumental versions, the re-issue offers a unique insight into the band’s working process.
Due for release on May 24th, The Cure have decided to stream the early demos on their official website. Available to stream right now, the material also includes a live show from Dallas in 1989.
Featuring the band in their late 80s pomp, the live recordings mix material from the ‘Faith’ and ‘Disintegration’ albums.
Amongst the instrumental tracks are version of ‘Close Down’, ‘Pictures Of You’ and more. Written before Robert Smith became involved in the process, they demonstrate the evolution of the material.
Elsewhere, the tracks contain previously unreleased studio jams such as ‘Out Of Mind’. The material charts the progression of ‘Disintegration’ from early demo form to crowd pleasing anthems.
