The Cribs Gary Jarman has been forced to have an operation to remove nodules from his throat.
The Cribs’ long awaited return is almost upon us. The Wakefield indie giants have spent the time since their last full length touring, as well as breaking in new member Johnny Marr. Sure, he might come with the aura of a superstar but the guitarist is keen to be one of the lads – even piercing Ryan Jarman’s ear.
However the band have been rocked after Gary Jarman under went an operation to remove nodules on his throat. Although not immediately harmful the nodules had been causing him discomfort, leading to the operation.
As a result, though, Gary Jarman must no talk for a total of two weeks. In a statement to fans the musician explained that the procedure was “a massive weight off my mind”.
“You may have noticed that my once youthful sounding cherub-like voice from the first album has, over the course of three records, degenerated into the grizzled, bitter old man voice of today.”
“Well, no more! I am currently mute, unable to speak for the next couple of weeks, and on a heady mixture of Vicodin and Throat Coat tea.”
Jarman went on to reveal that The Cribs have managed to persuade cult indie-poppers Comet Gain to support them at their upcoming London HMV Forum show on October 15th.
In further Cribs-related news, the band are set to issue special regional editions of their forthcoming album ‘Ignore The Ignorant’. Available to buy in specially selected record stores, the new editions of the album will only be sold in the band members home countries.
Taking in Yorkshire (Ross and Ryan Jarman), Lancashire (Johnny Marr) and Portland, Oregon (Gary Jarman) the new edition of ‘Ignore The Ignorant’ will include a copy of the album housed in a black box alongside a ‘Making Of’ documentary DVD and an audio-only version of the band’s Manchester Ritz shows.
The Cribs are due to release ‘Ignore The Ignorant’ on September 7th.
