British dance legends The Chemical Brothers are to release their new album ‘Further’ on June 7th.
The Chemical Brothers are perhaps the most successful dance export in the history of British music. Formed after a hedonistic night out at the Hacienda, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons have perfected a stunning mix of styles which has gone on to conquer the globe.
Adding a visceral rock edge to house and techno, The Chemical Brothers decided to take a break after their fifth consecutive British number one album ‘We Are The Night’ was released in 2007.
Re-uniting last year, the band have crafted eight pulsating tracks which reach the heights of old. Released in conjunction with eight short films, The Chemical Brothers new album ‘Further’ will expand their trademark sound into new directions.
One of their most experimental releases to date, ‘Further’ sees The Chemical Brothers take the atmosphere of their ‘Electronic Battle Weapon’ release to spiralling new heights.
Moving from Beach Boys harmonies to relentless Krautrock rhythms, ‘Further’ is a stunning return. In addition to the music, The Chemical Brothers have decided to release eight short films made in conjunction with long-time visuals collaborators Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall.
Planned during the recording of the album, the pair took time out of working on TV institution ‘Doctor Who’ to work on the short films. Written to correspond to the music, the films will make their debut at a forthcoming residency in London’s Roundhouse.
