Austin, Texas psych-rock juggernauts The Black Angels return with new single ‘Firefly’.
The band formed back in 2004, and have built their own universe, including a bustling back catalogue and their own festival. Previous record ‘Death Song’ landed in 2017 to no small degree of acclaim, but the Texan outfit decided to keep fans waiting for a follow up.
Breaking cover, The Black Angels have shared a brand new single, alongside details of their incoming album.
New album ‘Wilderness Of Mirrors’ is out on September 16th, and it’s led by cute single ‘Firefly’ and its gentle evocation of 60s psych-pop. Drifting into French ye-ye territory, ‘Firefly’ is a quietly addictive listen, merging melodic intent with distortion.
Thievery Corporation’s Loulou Ghelichkhani guests on the song, while the animated video is a joy – check it out below.
