The B-52s, pioneering surf-punk funsters who helped inspire REM to up tools, are ready to release their first album in 16 years.
The record, their first on EMI, will be entitled “Funplex” and is available from early next year. The band, perhaps best known for their first hit “Rock Lobster” in 1978, were last seen as The BC-52’s in the movie The Flintstones. Presumably they rebuilt the time machine and made it back in one piece as they have recently toured Europe headlining Benicassim, amongst others.
“Funplex” is available from March 2008.
