The 1975 Become Record Store Day Ambassadors

"Independent record stores are the lifeblood of the music industry..."

The 1975 have been named ambassadors for Record Store Day.

The band swept in 2023 like a hurricane, completing a sold out UK tour with the help of Taylor Swift and Lewis Capaldi. Set to descend on the BRIT Awards this weekend, the Manchester band recently returned to their hometown for a tiny, fans-only show at Gorilla.

Looking ahead, The 1975 have become ambassadors for Record Store Day. The band add their name to those supporting the endeavour, which aims to connect fans with their local independent vinyl outlet.

This year, The 1975 will give their live performance alongside the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra a vinyl pressing for the very first time – it’s out on April 22nd, and was initially recorded in 2016, boasting early career highlights such as ‘Somebody Else’ and ‘The Sound’.

Oh, and the release will only be available at participating record stores.

Speaking about their love for independent record stores, the band’s frontman Matty Healy says…

“The guys and I are really proud to be ambassadors for Record Store Day this year. Independent record stores are the lifeblood of the music industry and have played a crucial role in our story so far. It couldn’t be more important to support their vital community and culture.”

Record Store Day takes place on April 22nd.
