Tex Announces New EP ‘Identity Crisis’

Listen to new single 'Cerebral'...

Copenhagen-based artist Tex returns today with new single ‘Cerebral’, lifted from an eight-track EP titled ‘Identity Crisis’, set for release on July 24th via AWAL.

Tex’s first release since last year’s dual single, ‘Why b/Cryo’, ‘Cerebral’ is a foreboding yet picturesque expression of fractured friendships and a lifelong quest for lasting companionship. “Everyone wants the perfect companion, someone you can trust to never let you down. That can be hard to come by in humans. Just get a dog!” he says.

A compelling bipartite, Tex and collaborator Cajm mesh together a bricolage of vocal yelps and quivers over fragments of mutant alt-rock production, before pivoting to a bruised pop crescendo with the stinging line “You don’t know nothing about me…” lingering in the ether.

Tex’s forthcoming EP, ‘Identity Crisis’, is a topographic experiment. Composed between the Hackney Wick (in a shared space with fifteen other artists) and his current home base of Copenhagen, Tex also draws from Sri Lankan poetry and literature, a heritage unearthed during a transformative journey to visit his grandfather’s family.

The single arrives with a video directed and edited by Tex Weerasinghe himself, with colour grade by Helene Weerasinghe. It features a dog chasing an RV car, shot on the first day of sun after the Swedish winter.
