Tender Trap are set to release new album ’10 Songs About Girls’ on September 10th.
Amelia Fletcher is a bit of a legend around these parts. Coming to the fore with indie pop legends Talulah Gosh, the singer later led Heavenly to semi-fame before kickstarting Tender Trap.
Definitely not the group behind ‘Sweet Disposition’, Tender Trap’s ramshackle blend of indie pop proves that Fletcher can still cut it with the best of them. Thankfully returning with a new album, the band are set to release ’10 Songs About Girls’ on September 10th.
Once again sitting at home on Fortuna POP! the album does exactly what it says on the tin. Ten vignettes exploring femininity in modern Britain, Amelia Fletcher expands the themes to cover life, death, the nature of existence and other fun stuff.
Emily Bennett, from Betty and the Werewolves, hops on board to join the band with Elizabeth Morris departing to focus on Allo Darlin’. Bennett joins Amelia Fletcher, with the pair lining up alongside Katrina Dixon, John Stanley on guitar and original Heavenly bass player, Robert Pursey.
ClashMusic spoke to Amelia Fletcher last year about her new material, and found that she was experimenting with some classic indie influences. “It’s still indie pop but it’s not quite as 60s girl groupie. We were originally going to be influenced by Postcard more because we really love Postcard. I’m not sure we managed that either. You start thinking about Orange Juice plus us, that’s kind of what we were aiming at. But I don’t know if we’ve managed!”
‘Ten Songs About Girls’ will be released on September 10th.
