Ten Fé make their return with new single ‘Space Invader’.
The group shared two gripping albums, racking up more than 100 million streams in the process. Connecting with their audience on a deep level, the pandemic provided a break, with the various musicians focussing on personal projects.
Reconnecting recently, Ten Fé are working towards their third album. Provisionally slated for release in 2025, it was recorded at ICP Studios Brussels with Luke Smith (Foals, Depeche Mode, Shygirl) and mixed by Dan Goodwin (The National, Kevin Morby, Cassandra Jenkins).
Out now, ‘Space Invader’ is the perfect landing space – it’s raw, stripped back, and focussed on the vocal, a point of connection between Ten Fé and their fans.
Reference points could include the expressive torch songs of Perfume Genius, or the communal creativity of The Band – it really is that broad.
Discussing their requirement for “emotional honesty”, Ten Fé comment…
It is a moment of reflection in the midst of an argument. It’s the moment you realise that you’re wrong, but you’ve pushed the other person too far away to bring them back and resolve. And instead the more you argue and convince yourself you’re right, the more you continue to push the other person away. In my case, I pursue, and invade the other person’s space…communication has broken down and I’ve lost them.
I wrote the track over the course of the first year I was living in Ireland. It was over the course of the first year of my relationship with Ash, and so that’s when you’re really working out your boundaries. Can be really painful and you find yourself totally emotionally lost in space. That’s what I wanted that last held chord to feel like – like you’re being blasted into space emotionally.
Tune in now.
