There's a lot more to Temz Clipstar than meets the eye.
The South London talent has this extrovert appeal, but the sheer vivid colour of his music is allied to a slightly withdrawn, slightly introspective lyrical flair.
A self-confessed movie buff and comic book collector, his music has a kind of Neptunes vibe to it, with a definite UK flair.
New single 'Down' is a huge leap forward for the Peckham artist, something he labels his "personal mission".
A crisp UK rap burner inspired by rom-coms it's a colourful contradiction, a warning not to pigeonhole his work too quickly.
He comments…
“’Down’ is inspired by my love for rom-coms combined with a personal love experience. We all have our own individual missions to complete – ‘Down’ asks the girl in question if she still wants to be with me after I’ve laid all my cards on the table and she realises just how difficult my personal mission is going to be. Would she be down through the lows as well as the highs?”
“Though the message is quite sombre, the beat is intentionally something you can move your feet to. In life you’ve got to take the good with the bad and it was important for me to convey that message somehow in this song.”
Tune in now.
