Epic Australian types Temper Trap have broken into the Top Ten with their single ‘Sweet Disposition’.
In this age of download, instant access and demands for instant success it does the heart good to see something a little old fashioned.
Moving to Britain earlier this year The Temper Trap had built up a strong following in their native Australia courtesy of their epic songwriting and swooning vocals. Taking a huge risk they left all that behind in favour of the UK’s (rather chillier) climes.
However it seems to have paid off. Entering the Top 40 over a month ago The Temper Trap’s new single ‘Sweet Disposition’ has risen via word of mouth. A UK tour saw the band gain fans wherever they went, with their stunning stageshow bursting out of the small capacity venues.
Now The Temper Trap sit at number seven in the UK charts. Perched between Pixie Lott and Jay-Z the band are in good company, and with their full length debut set to follow later this year it seems that things can only get better.
Pole position this week is claimed by Taio Cruz, with his single ‘Break Your Heart’. Jay-Z claims his second single in this week’s run down with ‘Empire State Of Mind’ which has risen to number two.
Shakira’s bizarre new track ‘She Wolf’ sits patiently at number four, presumably in anticipation of the Halloween rush.
The current UK Top Ten singles are:
1. Taio Cruz – ‘Break Your Heart’
2. Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys – ‘Empire State Of Mind’
3. David Guetta Ft Akon – ‘Sexy Chick’
4. Shakira – ‘She Wolf’
5. Black Eyed Peas – ‘I Gotta Feeling’
6. Jay-Z Ft Rihanna & Kanye West – ‘Run This Town’
7. Temper Trap – ‘Sweet Disposition’
8. Pixie Lott – ‘Boys & Girls’
9. Pitbull – ‘Hotel Room Service’
10. Dizzee Rascal – ‘Dirtee Cash’
