Bristol dubstep label Tectonic are set to launch a new compilation celebrating local studio Multiverse.
An important port in the slave trade, Bristol has always had a multi-ethnic population. This diversity gives the city an international outlook, which has recently found expression in its underground dance scene.
Centred on local dubstep producers, labels such as Tectonic have benefited from existing institutions. Bristol studio Multiverse is packed with cutting edge technology, turning it into a mecca for bass heads.
A new compilation from Tectonic celebrates the Bristol powerhouse. ‘Dark Matter: Multiverse’ is packed with some of the finest dubstep productions of the past five years.
The tracklisting alone is enough to get some fans excited, showcasing the evolution of the Bristol sound as it begins to attract some star names. Alongside local heroes such as Pinch, Joker and more the compilation features heavyweights such as Skream.
Dutch producer 2562 has a long relationship with the city, and Tectonic have often sent his recordings to be mastered at Multiverse. The two disc compilation ends with some unreleased material, as well as Joker’s ‘Psychedelic Runway’ – one of last year’s finest bass cuts.
The compilation showcases the wide styles Multiverse has succeeded in implementing, including mavericks such as Vex’d and Moving Ninja.
Meanwhile, Tectonic has confirmed a new Fabric residency. Happening quarterly, the residency is due to launch in Room 1 on June 11th with a no doubt stellar line up of DJ talent drawn from the label’s roster.
Tectonic are due to release ‘Dark Matter: Multiverse’ on July 5th.
