What do you get when you put two barges, one river, and nine bands playing for FREE together? A pissed up version of Titantic on err..the Thames, or a chance to sit in luxury and watch up and coming acts playing on a boat? Believe the latter as on 1st June till the 8th we’ll see as The River Rat Pack tour kick off – and there’s no iceberg in sight.
Organized by Ally Wolf and Nat Jenkins, who have aimed to create a unique eco alternative to the way bands tour. Have arranged a line up of nine up and coming artists to take to the river and sail down the Thames, from Camden to Oxford. Where they will be playing a series of acoustic free gigs standing on top of their barges along the riverside, and in pubs and clubs where they moor at. And yep, all the gigs are free.
The bands including the likes of Six Nation State, Beans On Toast and Mumford and Sons who plan to live sleep eat and navigate themselves all together. It’s going to be an adventure!
Back in May, The Kooks Luke Pritchard christened the decks, by playing an acoustic set on the barge between Victoria Park and Camden to launch the tour along side the River Rat pack clan. Over 1,000 people gathered at Camden Lock for the gig. Showing if that’s anything to go by, come June the river bank will be the hottest place to be.
