Sycco’s ‘Superstar’ Is An All-Out Bop

It's a funky, colourful, slice of psych-pop...

Australian riser Sycco has shared her new single 'Superstar'.

Out now, it's a carefully finessed, perfectly executed pop song, from the funky bass-line down to her on-point vocal.

Psych-pop executed with femme energy, 'Superstar' is emblematic of her natural talents, and her raw ambition.

Hand-picked to support Tame Impala by Kevin Parker himself, the songwriter – 20 year old Brisbane based and First Nations artist Sasha McLeod – is plotting big things in the coming 12 months.

Sycco shares: "I'm really proud of this song, which I wrote and produced super quickly in my bedroom, and finished up with Kon in the studio. The lyrics are satirical obviously – I used to work at a grocery store and it was fun to imagine a glowed-up future me having a tantrum in there."

Madeline Randall directs the video, a colourful, trippy affair. The video team comment: "We're always trying to tell a story and build the world around her music. There are so many layers and themes to the songs and we want the videos to feel just as dynamic and rich."

Tune in now.
