Surprise Chef Announce New Album ‘Education & Recreation’

Check out new bumper 'Money Music'...

Surprise Chef will release new album ‘Education & Recreation’ on October 14th.

The Melbourne groove merchants draw on vintage soul and funk, adding a soundtrack sensibility into the mix, too. Fully instrumental, two albums – ‘All News Is Good News’ and ‘Daylight Savings’ – have brought cult appeal, with Surprise Chef now singing to independent powerhouse Big Crown Records.

The label’s output is a huge inspiration to the group, who are overjoyed at the move. “Being in Australia, being so far away, we only get glimpses and glances of this music’s origins,” Lachlan Stuckey says. “But hearing a label like Big Crown was one of the first times we realized you could make fresh, new soul music that wasn’t super retro or just nostalgic.”

New album ‘Education & Recreation’ follows, with the LP set to land on October 14th. New bumper ‘Money Music’ leads the way, and the slick interplay between the musicians lends it a hugely impressive organic feel.

Tune in now.
