British guitar music seems hopelessly reserved, utterly insular right now.
Few – if any – newcomers seem to want to succeed, to demand thousands of fans sing back their songs at them from headline festival sets.
But then there's Sundara Karma. Last year the group unveiled 'Freshbloom', a track which was promptly picked up by BBC Introducing and caused no small ripple of hype.
Since then, the band have laid low, focussing on new material laying down some plans. Working with Chess Club Records, Sundara Karma are now set to unveil their next release.
'Cold Heaven' drops on March 17th, and is no doubt set to establish the band as a force to be reckoned with. Swooping, soaring anthemics abound, with Sundara Karma managing to tap into something huge, something best heard in vast arenas, in front of enormous crowds.
Can they get there? Time will tell, but for now 'Cold Heaven' is an imposing introduction.
