Summer Camp Confirm New Single

'Better Off Without You' due on September 12th

Summer Camp are set to release their new single ‘Better Off Without You’ on September 12th.

The rise of Summer Camp has been swift and almost totally painless. Releasing a handful of singles and an EP the London duo have outlined their retro-flecked takes on the legacy of the 80s.

In love with John Hughes movies, the pair have even launched a blog asking fans to send in their own photos from their adolescence. Hooking up with PledgeMusic to release their debut album, Summer Camp have now confirmed plans for a new single.

Taken from the upcoming album, Summer Camp are set to release ‘Better Off Without You’ on September 12th. The single will be handled by the duo’s own Apricot Recording Company, with Moshi Moshi also on hand to provide assistance.

A piece of breezy pop music, the soaring chorus has Elizabeth Sanky’s sighing voice intone some heartbreaking lyrics. A complex love song, ‘Better Off Without You’ will come backed with new cut ‘Probably Right’.

Due for release on September 12th, the single trails the forthcoming debut album. Taking the decision to use PledgeMusic, the duo are planning a number of surprises for fans who take part in the project.

Speaking to ClashMusic recently, singer Elizabeth Sankey mused on the independent approach. “The industry has obviously changed a lot in the last few years so if you need to fund an album it is not possible to ask fans to do that in advance rather than getting that money from a label who have to invest in you when nobody knows how it’s going to do” she explained.

“It just made sense for us to do this, given the way we see the world and the way the business is going.”
