Sufjan Stevens and Lowell Brams will release new collaborative album 'Aporia' on March 27th.
Lowell Brams is Sufjan's step-father, and the pair have an exceptionally close relationship.
The songwriter memorialised his mother on 'Carrie & Lowell', an incredibly moving record that revealed intimate details about his life.
A noted composer in his own right, Lowell Brams previously worked with Sufjan Stevens on the 2008 set 'Music For Insomnia'.
New album 'Aporia' lands on March 27th, and it contrast to the often spiky tones of 'Music For Insomnia' it boasts a rather more serene feel.
Said to echo some New Age recordings, the record is led by palatial new song 'The Unlimited'.
Extending outwards from those initial improvisations, it's a beautiful introduction to the record.
Sufjan comments…
"You know how it is with jamming: ninety percent of it is absolutely horrible, but if you’re just lucky enough, ten percent is magic. I just kept pulling out these little magical moments…"
