Sufjan Stevens has shared new song ‘A Running Start’.
The songwriter doesn’t have his troubles to seek, recently revealing his ongoing experiences with a physical health issue. This hasn’t halted his creativity, however – extraordinary new album ‘Javelin’ lands on October 6th.
New song ‘A Running Start’ is the latest preview, a swirling mesh of sound that taps into his maximalist leanings. When you break it down, however, it works on a simple, almost minimalist level – Sufjan takes charge of (almost) every single instruments.
Joined on additional vocals by Nedelle Torrisi, Hannah Cohen and Megan Lui, it’s Sufjan Stevens at his best – an emotional statement fit to make the heart burst.
Alongside this, he’s also revealed details of the 48-page book that will accompany the album. Available to order now, the book features hand-crafted collages, and different facets of Sufjan’s written and visual art.
