Strokes To Head Back Into Studio

Bassist Confirms 2009 Plans

Legendary indie act The Strokes will return to the studio to record the follow up to 2006’s ‘First Impressions Of Earth’ next year, bassist Nikolai Fraiture has revealed.

Although we’re not one to bandy about such terms lightly, the impact of The Strokes’ debut album ‘Is This It?’ is absolutely huge. Almost single handedly bringing back decent guitar led music, the band put converse on the feet of every wannabe hipster.

In London promoting his own solo project, Nikolai Fraiture told the BBC that a new album by the New York group is forthcoming. “We are looking at going into the studio in February now and getting back to being a band again,” he said.

The band have taken time off due to other commitments. Fraiture commented that “it started with Nick (Valensi) having twins with his wife (two years ago) and he asked for a good amount of time off.”

“After about six months he was ready to come back but other members of the band were doing their own thing. Albert (Hammond Jr) was doing his thing with his solo project and Julian (Casablancas) needed time off. One thing led to another so studio time kept getting pushed back.”

Nikolai Fraiture will release his debut solo album ‘The Time Of The Assassins’ under the name of Nickel Eye.
