Guitarist with fabled New York group The Strokes Albert Hammond Jr has reportedly split with his girlfriend Agyness Deyn.
The guitarist has been a busy man since The Strokes went on hiatus in 2005. In that time he has released a well received album under his own name as well as making guest appearances on a variety of other projects.
Albert Hammond Jr had been dating British model Deyn for a year but the pair have apparently called off their romance just a short time after being photographed for the Valentine’s edition of fashion powerhouse Vogue.
Deyn was famously discovered working as a waitress in a cafe in Manchester. She has become one of the most recognisable faces in a new wave of British fashion, and together with close friend and designer Brian Holland is one of the most influential emerging figures in the fashion industry.
A spoof obituary, appearing in New York magazine, states that the couple are hoping to remain friends, although Deyn has already been pictured on the arm of a new beau.
It’s not all bad news for Hammond, however. The Strokes met up in February to begin work on the follow up to their third album ‘First Impressions Of Earth’ with tour dates expected to be announced for later this year.
Albert Hammond Jr has not commented on the relationship.
