Seven years is a long time, but Strike The Colours have always been worth the wait.
The Glasgow project coalesced around the songwriting of Jenny Reeve, releasing two striking albums before the various members went their separate ways.
Never quite splitting, the prospect of something new – whether that was music, or simply live shows – didn't quite stray from their imaginations.
So now it's happening. On tour next month, Strike The Colours will support Aidan Moffat and RM Hubbert before playing a celebratory headline show in Glasgow on December 16th.
New album 'Flock' arrives on November 30th, ending a seven year gap between albums, and it's a striking, at times extraordinary return.
With each member pushing themselves to the limit, it's a real band performance, epitomised by its unity, and pure power.
Jenny comments: “The intention for ‘Flock’ was to record the band performing almost entirely live, adopting a more collaborative method of song-writing and arranging…”
'Branches' is a bold, stirring return, visceral in its approach yet still tender in its lyricism, Emma Pollock makes a guest appearance on this most tumultuous of tracks.
Tune in now.
