Santigold has premièred her new track ‘Big Mouth’ online – watch the video now.
An experienced pop songwriter, Santi White used her day job to write for stars such as Christina Aguilera. At night, though, the singer was busy demoing her own material under the name Santogold.
A blistering mixture of New Wave pop, bass and electronics the singer’s magpie touch infused her debut album with a rare energy. Soon after its release, Clash Magazine placed Santogold in our Essential 50 – the fifty greatest albums in the magazine’s lifetime.
So news of fresh material from the singer has sent the office all a-fluster. Second album ‘Master Of My Make-Believe’ was completed recently, with Santigold revealing that Switch, Dave Sitek and Nick Zinner all assisted in its completion.
New track ‘Big Mouth’ is streaming below. Rooted in a pounding beat that recalls the Kuduro scene, the track has a cartoon element half-inched from Dancehall.
It’s Santigold’s pop presence that most impresses, though. Picking up where her debut album left off, this is global pop without boundaries – we still believe in Santigold.
