Jon Savage has pieced together a new mini-mix ahead of his post-punk themed ‘Fame’ compilation.
The past decade has seen the post-punk period achieve renewed importance. The seam of music produced between 1978 – 1982 has been heavily mined, granting posthumous importance to some (unjustly) neglected groups.
Some would argue, though, that little is left to say about post-punk. Searching through a hefty pile of rarities, Jon Savage would beg to differ.
Out this Monday (March 26th) ‘Fame’ is a new compilation which pieces together a number of abandoned or hard to come by cuts from the post-punk period. Caroline True will handle the release, which has been preceded by a new mini-mix from Jon Savage.
One of the journalists who defined the lexicon of the post-punk period, this is a rare chance to witness Jon Savage on home ground. A quick quote from the compiler: “Some of it doesn’t sound like anything that has happened since.”
