EMA is streaming new cut ‘Angelo’ which features a guest verse from Mz’Gorjis.
Stepping out on her own, Erika May Anderson must have felt nervous, intimidated, even. Yet the singer’s debut offering ‘Past Life Martyred Saints’ has become a real touchstone, earning across the board acclaim.
Preparing to play a number of joint dates with Zola Jesus later this month, the singer recently unveiled her new single. New single ‘Marked’ is limited to 1000 copies worldwide, with Souterrain Transmissions handling the release.
‘Marked’ comes backed with a brand new flipside, with EMA deciding to throw fans something different. ‘Angleo’ is equipped with a guest verse from Mz’Gorjis of Oakland crew Platnum Platnum Glam Squad.
“I first saw Mz’Gorjis perform at the Black Cowboy Parade in West Oakland” she said. “It was fantastic. Later when I was looking for a rapper to guest on Angelo I thought of her. The song is about Oakland and the different ways people try to make a name for themselves there. Her local connection was important to me. I find her performance on the track to be graceful and refined.”
