Stormzy Shares Visuals For ‘This Is What I Mean’

A bold shift for UK Rap featuring the likes of Amaarae, Black Sherif, Jacob Collier, Ms Banks & Storry...

Stormzy has shared visuals for latest offering, ‘This Is What I Mean.’

Titled after the rap heavyweight’s third studio album, the track is a blazing return to Stormzy’s original formula: quick-fire punchlines, resonating flows and a polished production. Across its execution, ‘This Is What I Mean’ marks an ambitious moment across the tracklist, inviting a versatile list of collaborators – Amaarae, Black Sherif, Jacob Collier, Ms Banks & Storry

The music video only amplifies the track’s cultural resonance, merging together all their distinct forces into one. Between Canadian opera-trainee Storry to alté pioneer Amaarae, it’s a bold shift for UK Rap, now pushing for a more widespread, global approach. Directed by Alexander Sakutu, otherwise known as Dir. LX, the visuals weave between footage from the album’s recent launch party and slick cameos, stark in their stylistic aesthetics.

Amongst a buzzing crowd, Stormzy delivers an intimate performance that triggers flashbacks to his breakthrough WickedSkengMan freestyles. ‘This Is What I Mean’ is a clear reminder that, despite his astronomical commercial success, the BRIT and Ivor Novello award-winner is staying true to his foundations.
