Stormzy switches it up on new single ‘Firebabe’.
The rapper is building to new album ‘This Is What I Mean’, which will be released on November 25th. The project finds the UK hero tackling fresh challenges, all while unpicking new developments in his personal life.
New single ‘Firebabe’ is online now, and it dips into Stormzy’s more soulful side. Constructed alongside Mercury winner Sampha, Jacob Collier, and 0207 Def Jam label mate Debbie, it’s a touching moment of reflection.
Stormzy comments: “Debbie, George [Moore] and I got in the studio together and it was the most beautiful moment. It was a session I’ll never forget, for the rest of my life. It was extremely special and everyone in the room understood that.”
He continues: “We were making something that hopefully, God willing, lives forever. Something that has soul and feeling and it came from a really pure place. We took a truth and made some art from it.”
So, who could it be about? Stormzy broke up with Maya Jama before making this record, and Maya is obviously a Leo – a fire sign. The internet is already in overdrive…
