Stevie Wonder Clarifies Frank Ocean Statement

"Clearly, love is love..."

Soul icon Stevie Wonder has clarified his recent comments on Frank Ocean’s sexuality.

It’s been one of the year’s main talking points. In one fell swoop, Frank Ocean opened up about his sexuality and risked the wrath of the hip hop hierarchy.

Penning a beautiful letter to fans, the singer revealed that his first love had been a man. The move prompted all manner of opinion, with The Guardian asking Stevie Wonder his thoughts during a recent interview.

“I think honestly, some people who think they’re gay, they’re confused” he said. “People can misconstrue closeness for love. People can feel connected, they bond.”

The quote immediately ruffled feathers, forcing Stevie Wonder to issue a statement to expand on his feelings further.

Rolling Stone report that Stevie Wonder has offered the following explanation: “I’m sorry that my words about anyone feeling confused about their love were misunderstood. No one has been a greater advocate for the power of love in this world than I; both in my life and in my music”.

“Clearly, love is love, between a man and a woman, a woman and a man, a woman and a woman and a man and a man. What I’m not confused about is the world needing much more love, no hate, no prejudice, no bigotry and more unity, peace and understanding. Period”.

Stevie Wonder is set to headline Bestival this weekend.
