Steve Lacy has laid out plans for new album ‘Gemini Rights’.
The title refers to the artist’s birth sign, while the music contained therein aims to further underline his status as one of American art’s pre-eminent all-rounders.
A true multi-hyphenate, Steve writes, performs, and produces virtually every note himself, building outwards from his excellent solo album ‘Apollo XXI’.
Indeed, since then he’s toured the world with The Internet, been lauded as a tech visionary, and produced a track for Kendrick Lamar’s blockbuster ‘DAMN’ album using only his iPhone.
Still only 24 years old, Steve Lacy will release ‘Gemini Rights’ on July 15th, and the album seemingly processes the first major heartbreak of his adult life. Lyrically, he moves from calling out the self-destructive behaviour of his ex, to revealing a scarcely concealed longing for reconciliation.
Thrillingly low-key new single ‘Bad Habit’ is online now – pared back alt-pop centred on those refulgent guitar chords, there’s a shimmering West Coast feel to the song.
