Welsh rockers Stereophonics have been celebrating the release of their new greatest hits album ‘A Decade In The Sun’ and in a new interview outlined their five point plan for success.
The band formed in South Wales in 1996, with the group of school friends going on to become one of the most popular British groups of the decade. Singer Kelly Jones insisted that songs are the most important aspect of any band saying “you’ve gotta put the work in on the songs and stick to your guns really.”
The band’s five point plan ranged from the sensible to the ridiculous. At one point the frontman insisted “you’ve got to come back with a different haircut every album.”
Of course, it wasn’t all plain sailing for the band. Stereophonics parted ways with Stuart Cable, their original drummer, with Kelly Jones insisting that “I think it’s the same in any job. If you’re managing a football team and if somebody’s not doing something, then somebody’s got to say something, whether that’s management or the band.”
Stereophonics greatest hits album ‘A Decade In The Sun’ is available now.
